You can always see team member usage against your plan from Settings → Subscription. The Analytics tab shows adoption metrics such as tasks created per week and completion rates.
Usage & Security
Novus Task tracks usage and sign-in activity to help you stay in control:
- Plan usage: View current projects, tasks, and team members compared to your plan limits from Settings → Subscription.
- Storage: Track total storage usage against your plan allowance on the Subscription tab.
- Sign-in history: Review recent logins by time, IP address, approximate location (city / region), and browser from Settings → Security.
- Two-factor authentication: Enable 2FA on your profile for an extra layer of protection on your account.
Tasks & Import
View tasks on the Board (Kanban), Calendar, Gantt, List, or Sprint planning view. Import tasks from CSV or Excel—download a template from the tasks page, fill it out, and import.
- Statuses: Custom task statuses require paid seats. Free plan uses default workflows. Status templates are available to admins on paid seats.
- Custom fields: Admins configure dropdown, text, number, date, and checkbox fields in Settings. Fields can be scoped to specific projects.
- Subtasks & dependencies: Available on paid seats. Free plan can view but must add paid seats to edit.
- Recurrence: Set daily, weekly, or monthly recurrence on tasks. New instances are created automatically by a background job.
- Archive: Archive completed tasks from Done columns to keep boards clean. Restore archived tasks anytime, or bulk-archive selections.
- Drafts: Save tasks as private drafts and publish when ready. Drafts auto-save when you close the task modal.
- AI (Pro add-on): Draft a task from a sentence on the create-task modal (title, description, and priority). Summarize a task on the details panel from its description and recent comments. Suggestions are not saved until you confirm.
- Attachments & links: Upload files and add resource links to tasks on plans that include storage and file uploads.
Sprints & Reporting
Sprint planning is available on all plans. Advanced reporting and analytics require Pro or Enterprise.
- Sprint planning: Create sprints per project, assign tasks from the backlog, and set story points (editors and admins).
- Close sprint: Close a sprint to finalize it; unfinished tasks can carry over to the next sprint.
- Reporting (Pro+): Visit Reporting in the nav (admins) for burndown charts, velocity, sprint rollups, and filters by project, sprint, and custom fields.
- Export: Export reporting data as CSV or PDF on Pro and Enterprise plans.
Calendar Integrations
Sync task due dates with external calendars from Settings → Calendars:
- Google Calendar: Connect via OAuth. Tasks with due dates sync to your Google Calendar.
- Apple CalDAV: For iCloud, enter your Apple ID and an app-specific password. We look up your calendars automatically — macOS Calendar does not show Server Settings on a normal iCloud account.
- Backfill: After connecting, use the backfill option to sync existing tasks with due dates.
- Disconnect: Disconnect any provider individually without affecting others.
Apple Calendar (iCloud)
You will not see a Server Settings tab for iCloud in Calendar → Settings → Accounts. Apple only shows Account Information and Delegation. Leave the calendar URL blank in Novus Task and connect with:
- Your Apple ID email
- An app-specific password from appleid.apple.com (Sign-In and Security → App-Specific Passwords). Your regular Apple password will not work.
After you click Connect, choose which iCloud calendar should receive due dates if more than one is found.
Fastmail, Nextcloud, and other CalDAV servers still need a calendar collection URL pasted into the optional URL field. Logged-in users can also open the in-app guide Connect Apple Calendar (CalDAV).
Search & Shortcuts
Find work quickly and navigate without the mouse:
- Global search: Use the search bar in the header to find tasks, projects, groups, users, comments, and guides.
- Keyboard shortcuts: Press
?to see all shortcuts. Common ones:g d(Dashboard),g t(Tasks),g p(Projects),g s(Settings).
Guides
Logged-in users can browse in-app how-to articles at Guides in the navigation (/guides). Guides cover product features, workflows, and best practices. Platform administrators can manage guide content from the super-admin area.
API Access
Pro and Enterprise plans include API access for integrating Novus Task with your own tools and automations.
After you upgrade, log in as a company admin and open Settings → API to create API keys and view endpoint examples for your plan. API keys are required for external tools; the in-app product uses your normal login session.
Keep API keys secret—treat them like passwords. Revoke any key you no longer use.
Slack Integration
You can create tasks directly from Slack using a slash command:
- Create a Slack app with a /task slash command that points to your workspace's
/slack/commandsURL. - Install the app to your Slack workspace.
- In Novus Task, go to Settings → Slack to connect the workspace and choose a default project and assignee.
Once connected, you can run commands like:
/task Fix login bug/task Fix login bug | Users can't log in from Safari/task Fix login bug | Users can't log in from Safari | alice@example.com, bob@example.com
Tasks created from Slack appear in your chosen project with the title, description, and assignees you provide.
